Synopsis

A year after the Miles County massacre, Art the Clown is resurrected by a sinister entity. Art returns home, where he must hunt down and destroy teenage Sienna and her younger brother Jonathan on Halloween. As the body count rises, the siblings fight to stay alive while uncovering the true nature of Art's evil intent.

After being resurrected by an unknown entity following the Miles County Massacre, Art the Clown brutally murders the coroner examining his body and goes to the laundromat to clean his blood-soaked suit, where he encounters the Little Pale Girl—a mysterious entity in similar clown attire. One year later, teenager Sienna Shaw is preparing her Halloween costume: a Valkyrie character designed by her recently deceased father. Her younger brother Jonathan has become fixated with Art since discovering art of him in their father's sketchbook. That night, Sienna has a nightmare about a commercial for "The Clown Cafe" in which Art appears. He kills various Clown Cafe patrons as Sienna tries to pull a sword from a box of cereal. She wakes from the dream in her bedroom, where a fire is burning the dresser the sword is resting on, but the sword is unscathed. That day, Jonathan sees Art and the Little Pale Girl at school playing with a dead opossum and is blamed when his principal discovers the carcass. Sienna has a panic attack when her friends Allie and Brooke discuss Victoria Heyes's mutilation of talk show host Monica Brown. Sienna and Allie go to the costume shop, where they encounter Art. Art kills the shop vendor before arriving at Allie's home trick or treating. Allie ridicules him because she thinks he’s too old to go trick or treating. Art later breaks into Allie's home and brutally maims her, keeping her flayed body alive long enough to traumatize her mother, whom he later kills. Jonathan shows Sienna and their mother Barbara their father's sketchbook, filled with newspaper clippings revealing that the Little Pale Girl bears resemblance to Art's first victim Emily Crane. He believes their father knew how to stop Art, saying that he gifted her the sword for that purpose. Sienna departs for a Halloween party; Jonathan flees after Barbara slaps him. She is then shot and killed by Art, and when Jonathan returns home, Art kidnaps him and steals Sienna's sword. At the Halloween party, Brooke spikes Sienna's drink; Sienna has a panic attack after seeing the Little Pale Girl in the crowd. Brooke's boyfriend Jeff drives them home when Sienna is lured to The Terrifier attraction at an old abandoned carnival. The Little Pale Girl mimics Jonathan's voice over the phone, pleading for a ride home, while Sienna goes searching alone. After a big argument on the way, Art castrates and murders Jeff. Brooke is chased into the park and murdered as well, while Sienna is beaten unconscious. Sienna awakens to find Art using a scalpel on her brother and begins attacking him with his own weapons. The siblings discover Art is immortal and he wears them out with his endurance. He stabs Sienna with her father's sword and throws her into a portal to Hell where she encounters the "Clown Cafe" again. Sienna dies but is resurrected by the sword. She decapitates Art while he is biting into Jonathan's calves. The Little Pale Girl takes his head and leaves as Sienna and Jonathan embrace. In a mid-credits scene, Victoria (now institutionalized) writes "Vicky + Art" and obscenities on the wall with her own blood. She gives birth to Art's living head as her eyes glow bright.

Content Warnings

⭐ IMDb Parents Guide 🛡️ Common Sense Media

a dog dies
Yes
someone is sexually assaulted
spoiler While no one is sexually assaulted, there is a scene where two characters are about to hook up in a car. One of them is buzzed and previously took some MDMA, and both do a bit of cocaine. No actual sex happens though. I'm just including this as the combination of drugs and sex can be triggering to some. Also, while not sexual assault, there is male genital mutilation shortly after this scene
an animal dies
spoiler You don’t see how it dies, but there is a dead possum behind the dumpster and later it is brought into the school.
animals were harmed in the making
Yes
there's a dead animal
spoiler The possum.
rabbits are harmed
Yes
animals are abused
spoiler There is a dead possum that is tampered with by two boys after they found it already dead. It’s technically not abuse as its already dead but its still upsetting. The dead possum is also played with by Art the Clown and the Little Pale Girl, they rip its innards out and they play with them.
there are bugs
spoiler Many instances of worms and maggots. One account of crickets/cockroaches (I couldn’t tell, sorry)
a horse dies
Yes
a child is abandoned by a parent or guardian
Yes
someone leaves without saying goodbye
Yes
there's child abuse
spoiler At one point Jonathan’s mother slaps him. Its also mentioned that before his passing, Sienna’s father was especially abusive.
a woman is brutalized for spectacle
spoiler Yes, however I’d argue against the comment suggesting this is the point of the franchise. Women are brutalized no doubt, but Art does not solely torture/murder women.
there's domestic violence

there's abusive parents
spoiler Yes, both parents of the main characters are abusive and the mother slaps the son on screen.
the abused forgives their abuser
spoiler Jonathan and Sienna mourn their abusive mother after she is killed.
someone gets gaslighted
spoiler Whenever Sienna and Jonathan suggest strange events were caused by Art the Clown, they are gaslit/told they are crazy or liars, either by their mother or by friends.
someone is abused with a belt
spoiler No, but Art does have a fairly lengthy scene where he lashes two minors with metal chains (either regular chains, barbed wire, or something else similar— I didn't feel comfortable looking). People who may have triggers for belts used in punishment might react similarly to this force being used against children. (Ages 12 and I think 17/18?)
someone is stalked
spoiler Art stalks the female lead through most of the first half of the movie. Her little brother also sees Art pop up a few times, purposely messing with him. The last act of the movie, Art hides from them then stalks them, which turns into out-and-out chasing, catching, and attacking.
there's addiction
spoiler Sienna’s mom seems to drink wine a bit much. Brooke’s boyfriend also snorts coke
alcohol abuse
spoiler Sienna’s mother drinking wine and assumed underage drinking from Sienna and Brooke (we never know their ages but I’m assuming high school/early college)

spoiler Near the end - the main character is held by a rope in a water tank and cannot escape
someone is restrained

rape is mentioned
spoiler Male character wears shirt that says “just the tip I promise”
there's eye mutilation
spoiler PLENTY. This includes (but not limited to) a broken beer bottle in the eyes, a man’s dead body has his eyes pulled out, someone who comes back to life after being shot in the face is missing an eye, and he touches the socket several times, and a woman is slashed across her face and it graphically splits her open eye down the middle.
there's excessive gore
spoiler 100%. The movie is so gory and brutal that they did not even bother submitting it for an R-rating. It is unrated. If you don’t like gore, this is the absolute last movie you should see. For what it’s worth, I have a strong stomach for horror gore, but one scene is particular was so, so graphic it shocked me, which is rare.
there's torture
spoiler I can’t even describe the torture in this movie completely because it would take so long, not to mention it is so nasty it might get taken down. Everyone who is tortured is later killed. Instances include vinegar, then salt being poured over a women who has been sliced all over her body, someone is scalped, acid tossed in someone’s face, and a badly mutilated victim who is so brutally tortured and attacked she appears dead, but turns out not to be. The killer in this movie is a sadist
there's genital trauma/mutilation
spoiler Severe. Art the clown stabs Brooke’s boyfriend in the penis and then pulls it off to taunt Brooke with it.
there's body horror
spoiler It's terrifier, definitely.
there's finger/toe mutilation

teeth are damaged

spoiler A child is shown eating glass in the beginning screen
there's cannibalism
spoiler Yeah, there’s multiple scenes of cannibalism.
there's shaving/cutting
spoiler No one is cut shaving, but different characters are badly cut by Art the Clown using various sharp objects. Very graphic and realistic-looking
someone is buried alive
Yes
there's amputation
spoiler Yes. Many times, including a woman’s arm pulled apart and then cut off, a penis ripped off, and at least 5 decapitations (possibly more, but many heads roll)

someone falls down stairs
Yes
someone falls to their death
spoiler she doesn’t die but sienna falls relatively far through some floorboards
Someone becomes unconscious
spoiler Sienna is knocked unconscious at least 4 times in the last 30-40 minutes (blow to head, strangled, thrown from a height, drowns). Jonathan is drugged unconscious on screen midway though. And also knocked out (off screen) in the final fight.
someone breaks a bone
spoiler **SPOILER** Not a major spoiler,I assume with this movie there might be more broken bones but I can’t remember. But this is one scene that really just got to me. It was the broken knee cap scene.
there's decapitation
spoiler sienna and jonathan’s mother gets her head blown off by art the clown
heads get squashed
spoiler Yes, besides the above the killer splits a man’s head open after the hits and rips out his brain with his bare hands. Lots of trauma to victim’s faces and heads in this movie.
there's Achilles Tendon injury
spoiler Art "snacks" on the area of someone's Achilles tendon
someone is crushed to death
Yes
a minor is sexualized
spoiler Not sure how old is Sienna but she still goes to school and it's clearly sexualized several times
a kid dies
spoiler It is mentioned that a young girl was found mutilated. This is offscreen. Also the “kids” in the dream sequence were NOT kids except for the little cereal kid and its not clear if he died or not. Most of the deaths are of minors, with the exception of a few, however all the minors are older teens.

spoiler he has a whip used to hit a lot of the characters repeatedly with razors and other sharp objects attached to it
someone is possessed
spoiler That's debatable
there are clowns
spoiler If clowns scare you, this is probably the worst movie you could possibly see. Clowns don’t scare me, but in this movie they sure did
there are shower scenes
spoiler A very brief shower scene with Sienna. No explicit nudity is shown, just a few shots of side boob but nothing major.
there's ghosts
spoiler You could argue that the little girl might be a ghost
there are mannequins
spoiler Mannequins in a Halloween store. Later you see figures in a haunted house
there's natural bodies of water
Yes
someone vomits
spoiler At the end of the film in the mid credits scene, Victoria is vomiting into a metal toilet. You both see it and hear it.
There's audio gore
spoiler Absolutely. It makes the gore scenes even more graphic and horrifying. Sounds of faces being mutilated, bones breaking, brains ripped out, skin sizzling with acid, ribcages pulled open, a really gross scene in the mid-credits I can’t describe, parts of bodies squished… you get the idea
someone is eaten
Yes
there's farting
Yes
there's spitting
spoiler Many characters will gurgle/spit up blood as they die, though I’m not too sure if that counts. What definitely does count however is toward the end, Sienna spits blood into Art the clown’s face. After he tosses her down, he spits regular saliva back and onto her body.
someone wets/soils themselves

spoiler Sienna gets her costume wings burned, but it is emphasized that the sword her father gave her was not affected.
there's a mental institution scene
spoiler Only at the very end where Victoria winds up. It’s a mid-credits scene that is most likely used to set up a sequel so it is skippable if this is too triggering.
someone has cancer
spoiler A character’s dad had a brain tumor, but it happens before the movie and is just mentioned rather than seen
there's a hospital scene
Yes
there's menstruation
spoiler no but in the mid credits scene there is a lot of genital-area blood which is visually similar. i think it's meant to invoke childbirth more than menstruation but might be triggering for those with issues with menstruation anyway
needles/syringes are used
spoiler When Art first attacks Jonathan a very large needle is shown and threatened.
Someone attempts suicide
Yes
someone self harms
spoiler The main one is when a creepy clown-girl mutilates her own face (her back is to us, but there’s audio gore) and she turns to reveal she has badly mutilated her own face (in the end result, her mutilated face lookssimilar to Victoria’s)
there's misophonia
Yes
a mentally ill person is violent
spoiler Art the Clown is presumably mentally ill, Victoria is severely traumatized and acts violently, and there are brief mentions of Sienna and Jonathan’s father having dealt with mental illness and abusive tendencies before passing.
someone suffers from PTSD
spoiler The main character definitely does.

spoiler Technically no, but in the scene after the end credits, there is a very brief moment where Victoria appears to be pregnant.
there's childbirth
spoiler SPOILERS. . . . At the end of the movie Victoria gives birth to a decapitated Art the Clown head, though it can move and emote. Its a gruesome scene as she is pulling out general gore beforehand and is bleeding profusely.
there are "Man in a dress" jokes
spoiler Art the Clown wears a frilly/feminine apron at one point and its seemingly played for laughs. Its nothing major, just semi adjacent to this category.

spoiler If any of the characters killed are gay, we never know. Homosexuality isn’t mentioned by anyone.
someone speaks hate speech
spoiler A character writes some hateful and very, very bad things to call a woman (you can figure it out) on the wall in her own blood. No one says them, though
there's antisemitism
spoiler Not directly, but at the beginning of the film Jonathan shares a gruesome fact about the Holocaust at the dinner table. The comment is meant to show that it seems he is interested in death/serial killers/the macabre to a concerning degree. Like I said, not direct antisemitism, but it definitely catches you off guard if you aren’t expecting it.
the black guy dies first
spoiler He does second
there's blackface

Yes
religion is discussed
spoiler Not directly but the movie has religious themes
there's demons or Hell
spoiler Technically yes, Art the Clown is a demon.
there are incestuous relationships
spoiler To clarify the scene the other comment describes as I disagree that it's incestuous, the daughter creates and wears a costume based on a character her late father made. The mother describes it as "revealing," the daughter is downhearted that this is all she has to say, then the mother softens and says her father "would love it." I didn't personally view it as "your father would want to see you in a skimpy outfit," more "your father would have loved the effort you put in."

spoiler In a dream sequence a Nun is asking ‘who will feed this man’ while gesturing to a homeless man.

there's end credits scenes?
spoiler There's a disturbing end credit scene when a woman gives birth to Art's head
Santa (et al) is spoiled
Yes
a car crashes
spoiler Not in the movie, but before the events of the film. The crash is discussed but never seen.
a car honks or tires screech
Yes
there's blood/gore
spoiler This is one of the bloodiest, goriest movies I’ve ever seen. There is a reason it is unrated. Only see this movie if you want to see oceans of gore, it’s not recommended for any viewers who are gorehounds.
someone drowns
spoiler SPOILERS. . . . Sienna is trapped in a glass box full of water and drowns. She seems to die but is resurrected, though it is still a pretty rough drowning scene.
there's gun violence
spoiler In a dream sequence Art the Clown guns down a crowd of people with some sort of automatic gun. He also later shoots a real person with what I assume is a sawed off shotgun— not too familiar with gun types. The same gun is also used later to shoot Art.
